The day was sandy and all kinds of junk washed up and she spit curses at the sky and the cars but it was time to meet Daddy at the cheesecake restaurant and he would marry again because he was steely with life a regular robot phoenix a real cuckoo bird in love with the flames and she was his daughter yes but she was more mouse than bird furtive in her scamper a stray dog really trying to keep dry searching for the juicy bone that would eradicate ennui or make long days shorter more succulent somehow he stands taller than her memory he’s buying but she isn’t hungry but she orders white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and coffee to appease and when he hugs her she tries not to flinch.
